About

Here’s a more detailed description of the blog owner. FAQs are also answered here.

  • People call her J because they can’t pronounce Jariss properly. Not that you asked but it’s Ja-rees, accent on the last syllable.
  • She’s taking up Multimedia Arts, a course for people who aren’t sure about what they want to do in the art world. Or maybe it’s just her.
  • Contrary to her major, she is very much into fashion and writing which is a daily slap on the face because aside from going to a school that offers Fashion Design, she has many friends from that course. But so far, she’s dealing with things just fine.
  • She’s a heavy hot coffee drinker. She gets upset if you get her a tall drink which almost never happens because she doesn’t let anyone pay for her Starbucks fix. (Maybe she will, if you ask real nicely and promise that you won’t go home poor.)
  • She came up with eccentricleartiste when she was in 6th grade. She saw the word “le artiste” (male artist in French) in a magazine, cut it, pasted it on the side of her cabinet, and she sees it all the time. She’s eccentric. Although “‘la artiste” (female artist in French) would have been more appropriate, eccentricleartiste sounded better.
  • When she made my Tumblr in June 2009, she came up with “Fashion Firewoman” in a snap— she didn’t think about it much because she can change it anytime anyway. Her blog description was “Putting out the root of fire”, fire being fashion faux pas and epic failures.
  • She’s fond of writing in 3rd person. She’s not really sure why.

As a PROFESSIONAL
-I handle marketing for Nail It! and some branch Lay Bare branches. I make sure both businesses meet their sales by making them mainstream. How do I do that? Magicians never reveal their tricks. ;)

-I write/repost press releases. Please contact me regarding this.

-I do freelance makeup and styling. If you have shoots, I can pullout clothes for you and even do your makeup, too.

As a WRITER
-My first serious literary piece was for an interschool literary competition in 6th grade.

-I was part of my high school’s publication where I competed for copyreading.

-I composed both our grade school and high school graduation songs.

-I was a features writer-turned literary editor of my college’s publication where I was able to experience shoots, interviews and deadlines on my first year and come up with a literary folio on my second year.

-I write shop, product and runway reviews for my blog, both sponsored and not.

As a MULTIMEDIA ARTIST
-I take my own photos. I’ve been part of so many shoots and I enjoyed each and every one I’ve been to. I’m usually part of the crew as the stylist or as the hair/makeup artist but I’ve also started learning shooting techniques.

-I’m very proud to say that I’ve ran 2 successful one-man shoots: this means I did everything from styling, hair and makeup and shooting. I take care of post-processing, too.

-I’ve been editing layouts since I was 12. I wasn’t really html-literate but somehow I was able to understand basic html and manipulate them without proper education. My blog’s layout is a template but I always alter the codes to my liking.

As a BLOGGER
-I started keeping a semi-private blog of random thoughts, short stories and others around age 13.

-I came up with a fashion blog mid 2010. It’s been doing better than expected. I’m currently an all-around fashion blogger which means…I write about international fashion news, do reviews for runway shows and online shops, feature stylish people, and update your dashboard with lots of personal input on fashion.

-I became part of When In Manila in 2011, a website full of adventurous contributors who cover events and try out new stuff in the market.

As a MUSICIAN
-I’ve been singing since age 2.

-I arranged my batch’s high school graduation song.

-Been part of my school’s chorale since the 6th grade.

-In college, I was the soprano voice leader of the college’s resident chorale for a year.

General views (on top of my head!)

On style icons…

  • I love Alexa Chung, Lauren Conrad and the Olsen twins. They all have the right amount of swag. I look up to them.

On signature labels…

  • Chanel should be every girl’s favorite but it’s suprisingly not mine. Prada’s satchels are very elegant. Balenciaga and Lanvin equally get my vote for great silhouettes.

On designers…

  • Isabel Marant has a way of making women look hard and soft at the same time with minimalism. I adore Alexander Wang’s edgy, solid-colored pieces (Fall 2008 ftw!). Diane von Furstenburg’s prints are always done with taste. Proenza Schouler (Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez) and Marc Jacobs are both awesome in same ways.

On shoes…

  • If the shoe fits, wear it. Christian Louboutin is a resourceful genius. Giussepe Zannoti has crazy finds for crazy people. Nicholas Kirkwood’s platform sole. Jeffrey Campbell’s wedges are to die for.

On RTW shops…

  • Dorothy Perkins, Promod and Warehouse. Period. If you’re on a budget, go to Forever 21. They have reasonable prices. P.S., you get what you pay for.
