After a month, I can finally write about this really fun event I was invited to. I was asked to judge an unconventional pageant. I’m fond of pageants; I see them all the time on TV but I’ve never seen a gay pageant let alone a pageant for cross-dressing straight men! All organizations under UP’s College of Architecture went all out in helping their male representative transform into a woman by coming up with naughty, catchy nicknames and elaborate costumes (which includes lingerie!).

I was seated alongside UP alumnae and professors. I was the youngest and the only outsider but I did not let that intimidate me. Instead, I let the crowd’s energy tag me along. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing! You can never have a bad time in a scholar-infested event.

The intermission numbers were very entertaining. Some bands performed and some orgs prepared numbers, too.

He was the crowd’s favorite. He brought home tons of prizes which includes a special award called “Metamorphosis”, the best male to female transformation. From afar you wouldn’t be able to tell that he’s a guy. He had really skinny legs!

My personal favorite though is this guy mainly because of his attitude. He reminds me of a local actor. He won 2nd place and some special awards, too, and he was grateful to the judges each time he received one.

That’s my co-judge Heart on the left and UP ASC chairperson Nina Gonzales. The atmosphere was easy to deter from my own school’s because when you’re in UP, it’s hard not to be proud. I’m looking forward to seeing these kids again, hopefully in another fun-filled school function. :)
