Fashion 101: Keeping up with the Holiday Sparkle

Christmas is a season for giving but aside from that, it gets some of us fashion-inhaling ladies giddy because it’s the season where dressing up is mandatory and not optional. Show off your glitter-powdered self and don’t pale to this season’s sparkle. I can already smell Christmas so it’s safe to check your Christmas list. Here’s a rundown of some bright gift suggestions for friends and loved ones. Don’t forget to reward yourself, too. :)

POSH Pocket Shoes has a new installment for the classic femme. The collection called “POSH Brides” showcases flats in pink, beige and silver— champagne tones perfectly fit for brides. The glitter toe detail gives oomph to the Prima bow-flats. POSH makes bows look good; see the other bow-embellished styles in their Facebook.

If you’re looking for unique accessories, might as well drop by Unique Creations to have some trinkets customized. Can’t go to Paris? Might as well start by wearing this pendant and feel like you’re there. ;) Trust me; they’re really affordable and they have a wide variety of pieces, too. If you plan to give these away to friends, I’m pretty sure they’ll give you a discount for bulk orders. :)

Extreme Finds did a good variation of their well-known frenchbraid necklace (as seen here) for the holiday season. Pieces in red, green, purple and gold say nothing but a warm, heartfelt Christmas. Too bad they’re out of bow necklaces, but at least now they have more necklaces and bangles!

Glitter is tacky, but not when used with taste. Trunk Show has a lot of glittered-sequined shoes for those who dare to go all-out sparkling this Christmas. They have ballet flats, oxfords and pumps in different colors but my favorite would have to be the one above. (P.S. Dorothy Perkins has something similar to this with a skyscraping price difference!)

A different kind of sparkle is seen in Mia Casa’s new accessories. Be it a penchant for neck pieces, earrings or stackles, Mia Casa is the perfect online shopping joint for your accessory needs. The necklace above may even double as a lucky charm for those who believe that coins and round stuff bring luck. Hey, you’ll never know. ;)

Well, isn’t Asian Vogue always a sight for sore eyes? Their shoes are too flashy you’re gonna need sunglasses to stare at them! I don’t have to enumerate the reason why Asian Vogue would be a good way to reward yourself or your best friend this Christmas because I believe that the Asian shoe online source is a good place to get gifts whole year round. What’s new? There’s always something new!

With these gift suggestions, there’s no reason for you to be lackluster. Just remember to dazzle everyone with a smile and pair of good shoes and you’re all set. Cheers to the wonderful year that has been and to the new one ahead of us!

Jariss Wears: Black and White

I was a bit inspired by my black and white post yesterday so I thought of coming up with my own look.  It’s not much. When I saw this blazer, I knew I had to have it so I immediately grabbed it. I tried it on and it was a bit big but I didn’t care! I just put on a white top, wore it as a dress but felt like I looked awkward so I wore it as a top and added an improv skirt. I was never one to go crazy over accessories and this post is a good proof. I like keeping things simple— I usually throw on something black (a dressy top most of the time) over some jeans and wear comfy flats/wedges. This pair is from Asian Vogue.

Same goes for my makeup. Concealer, loose powder, fix brows, mascara, optional eyeliner and blush. See that photo? That’s exactly how I look like everyday. I was a MUA for a time *laughs* and my friends would always notice when I don’t have obvious makeup on, it’s as if they expect me to be totally made up because I did makeup for work. That’s such a crazy misconception! Doctors don’t keep scalpels in their handbags. Or do they? *laughs* So now you know another thing about me: I hate it when people shove what they do in my face. It’s like I get it, you’re a fashion blogger; no need to wear your heels to the gym.

Ooh. I feel a bit feisty tonight. Been having really strong thoughts lately. I leave you with an awkward pose and an ugly smirk. :p

P.S. Oh hey! My hair’s jet black now! Well, it has been for over a month but this is my first photo since I had it dyed. Scroll up to check it out. Didn’t notice the difference? Compare it with THIS.

CNCTPHO: Fashion Photography Shoot (women’s)

For Conceptual Photography, we brought in a female model for our fashion editorial. Everyone prepped the studio while I played around and looked for pegs to copy for the shoot. I was able to call dibs on the bigger room because I’m more familiar with it. *laughs* I love seeing lights arranged, I love seeing clothing scattered, I love seeing MUAs and models— I really love shoots no matter how small.

Here’s Rachelle doing our model Tin Mate’s makeup.

Isabelle and I teamed up in shortening Tin’s hair. She did most of it, I just teased her extremely smooth hair and formed a bun under.

Someone brought this scarf. I fell in love with it because it’s thin but it looks thick, you can wear it even on hot days.

I haven’t worn these in an outfit post yet… must schedule a shoot! :)

I took these shots and styled the model with the very few garments we had. I’m very lucky the model we got had size 7 feet; it wasn’t hard to find her shoes but it was hard to pin my clothes to fit her because she’s very petite. These are all from last week’s shoot: a minimalistic, monochrome, androgynous approach to the country’s version of F/W. :)

While post-processing, I realized that I love the offset effect on my photos and the “crossover” pose not only on myself, but also on the models I direct. The crossover is evident on the photo above and below. :)

Jariss Wears: Asian Vogue

I tweaked the photos a bit for a fake tan because summer’s already over and I didn’t even get a chance to hit the beach, or even sunbathe in my backyard. *laughs* I didn’t feel my 20-day summer vacation at all but I was able to get a lot of things done like arranging a spa party and a nail salon opening. Btw, this is what I wore to the opening! Details and photos will follow.

These shoes are from Asian Vogue. I must say, it’s hard not to fall in love with the shop because the shoes don’t hurt at all— this is my third pair! But like what I always say, my tolerance for pain is different from everyone else’s. I literally let people try them on so they can see for themselves. They’re not heavy, they don’t hurt too much. Well, if you’re planning to stand for a couple of hours I suggest you think of something else to wear, common sense. Thanks again to Miss Angel del Rosario for my dainty platforms! :)

I’m pretty stoked about the rainy season. I know that’s weird but I like suspension of classes especially for people like me who take 2 hours to get to school. It’s been raining on and off since early May but I like the change, including the wardrobe change… don’t you? ;) Oh and thank you for the great response for my recent Fashion 101 post on what to wear on your first day in school. I rushed that before going to school yesterday! *laughs*

To end the summer season, I threw a season-ender giveaway where you can share your best summer story and win a bunch of cool prizes. Details may be found here.
