Figure Styling: Tin Iglesias

Self-portrait. 19-year old Tin Iglesias, hailing from the wicked halls of UP’s Clothing Technology, lets us in on her mini fashion world where pretty bows rule and studs ‘n chains prevail.

During her teens, Tin discovered style networking sites such as Lookbook and Chictopia which gave birth to her outfit posts like the one seen on the right. But outfit posts weren’t enough for her; she wanted a place where she can showcase her designs and photographs, that at the same time allows her to connect to people with inclination to fashion and the arts— thus, the birth of her fashion-personal blog, Fashion Ate the World.

Apparently, fashion does eat up Tin’s world as her blog title suggests. Aside from pursuing Clothing Technology in State U, she also contributes to a Southeast Asian-focused fashion blog, Tongue In Chic. On the side, I believe she practices photography too.

When it comes to her style, she’s pretty much got it all covered, “One day, I’ll sport a dress and a huge bow, and the next day, I’ll go for something hardcore with studded acid-washed jacket and leggings.” She likes mixing prints, textures, colors and eras which goes to show that she’s adventurous on top of her happy-bubbly vibe.

Tin is not alone in her fashion world. Even trendsetters are trendspotters sometimes. She lists down quite a number of names both foreign and local, “Agyness Deyn, the Olsen twins, Kate Moss, Kate Lanphear, Mirsolava Mikheeva-Duma, Daryl Chang, Liz Uy, Raya Mananquil, Ornussa Cadness, Bianca Gonzales, Pam Quiñones and Bea Soriano.” By the list of her fashion icons alone, you can tell how bold and style-savvy Tin is.

Being the resourceful consumer that she is, she believes that repeating outfits is forgivable as long as you know how to mix and match. “Think about any prospective purchase and make sure you really like it and feel good about it…”, she adds.

To wrap things up, Tin Iglesias is a writer, a stylist, a designer and overall a daring girl overflowing with positive vibes. She may be at an age wherein life’s not set yet, but she’s surely one to watch in the local fashion scene.

She leaves us with a few words of encouragement, “You have to believe in the magnificence of fashion, whether it’s the power of silhouette, color or proportion. You have got to have strong ideas and lots of determination. Be enthusiastic and innovative!
